China Association of Bakery & Confectionery Industry, being approved to register by the Ministery of Civil Administration,P.R.China in 1993, was established in June 1995.

China Association of Bakery & Confectionery Industry is a mass organization composed by voluntary enterprises and industrial companies for production of bread, pastry, biscuits, candies, chocolate, crystal sugar, frozen food ( ice cream, Eskimo pie, ice candies and etc.), instant food ( instant noodles, instant rice noodles, instant rice, instant porridge and etc.), preserved fruits, leisure food and etc., and technology, colleges and universities, and the enterprises of trade in raw materials and equipment for bakery and confectionery food and etc.. It is a nation wide transregional and transdepartment organization that neither gains profit nor cares for ownership. It is an entity of a mass organization and a class one state level association. The main missions for the association are to act as a bridge and link between its members and government departments, assisting government departments to well control the national bakery and confectionery industry, maintaining legal rights of all the members participated so as to further promote the development of the industry. It is State Economic and Trade Commission that controls the professional operation of the association.

Its main functions cover the following: make development plans and statistics for the industry, release professional information and make a market prediction on the industry under authorization of or being entrusted by government departments; set up a criteria for relative products, make inspections and comments on manufactures, approve qualified certificates of products and recommend new and good quality products; make early stage feasibility study and primary step inspections on the key invested and joint capital or joint venture projects; draw out regulations and rules of the trade to establish a self-rule mechanism; coordinate price argument among counterparts and maintain a fair competition; hold exhibitions; exchange technology, organize professional training to improve technological capabilities and exchange the talented people, organize professional grade qualification examinations for workers entrusted by government, organize qualification, promotion of application for scientific and technological results and etc..
