CLII--China Writing Instrument Association

Founded in March, 1983, China Writing Instrument Association is the nationwide trade organization which is voluntarily formed by the Chinese writing instrument and office apparatus enterprises and scientific research, education and social organizations. Under the association, there are six specialized committees, namely:
Fountain Pen Committee; Ball Pen Committee; Pencil Committee; Ink Committee; Raw Materials, Spare Parts & Equipment Committee; and Typewriter Committee.
Now the association has 255 member enterprises, 4 limited companies listed in stock exchange, and more than 80,000 sectoral employees.

In the past ten years or so, China Writing Instrument Association has played the role of a bridge and a link between the government and the enterprises, and has upheld the legitimate rights interests of the sector and the enterprises. The association has participated in working out the sectoral developing programme and general and specific policies, and has given vocational guidance to the work of sectoral standards, quality inspection and test, information exchange and international cooperation etc.
The Chinese writing instrument industry has ranked among the big writing instrument producing and export countries. Output of fountain pens and wooden pencils has already occupied first place in the world; the output of ball pens and propelling pencils ranks third in the world. The Chinese writing instrument industry has already reached a certain scale and level, has formed a developing system which can meet with domestic demand and has certain capabilities of international competition.

China Writing Instrument Association plans to hold the Fourth International Writing Instrument/Stationery Exhibition during Sept. 10th-13th, 1997.
